The last family portrait that the whole Geddes Family took together was Christmas time of 2009 at our home in South Lake Tahoe. It was time for an update. The kids are all getting bigger as they do all too quickly and we have a new family member that needed to be included, 8 month old, Rylan. I think it turned out well! Although, I wish that I would have looked in the back of the camera to double check the images after each shot. The Super Bowl was on so these shots were as quick as can be during breaks. I'm happy with it overall and really do love it! I hope that it will be cherished on the wall over the next year or so. I know that it will be at my home!!! The next big family photo won't be possible until 2013... or maybe we will take it in 2014 with another new family member. We will just have to wait and see what God's plans are. After all, we are all still growing, individually and as a family!

Happy 33rd Birthday to the love of my life, my husband, Joseph Geddes! I'm so thankful that God brought us together so many years ago and that we have been blessed with love & joy since our relationship began. My life is good because I have you in it! You are an amazing man, loving husband, and the BEST father to our children. I love you more than words can convey! {♥} I hope that you have a wonderful birthday! I'm looking forward to the next 33 more... or 66... or whatever God has planned for us; I'm good!

Thankful 2011, Week 1

Last year on facebook my good friend, Cathi, wrote something that she was thankful for each day from November 1st to Thanksgiving Day. I enjoyed reading her gratitude posts so much that I decided to join her this year and write about what things that I am thankful for. Enjoy!

Day 1: I'm thankful for my MOPS group and all of the wonderful mommas there that I get to spend some of my Tuesday mornings with. Thank you Jerolyn Bogear for sharing with us today about marriage. I know it was appreciated by all who were there to listen! I'm also very thankful for my marriage! I love you Joe!

Day 2: Today Rylan turned 5 months old, YAY! At his check-up he weighted 18 lbs 8 oz and he's 26.25" tall. I thank God for both of my beautiful children and that they are healthy! I'm thankful for not only Rylan's wonderful doctors, but all doctors, specialists, and nurses. If you are in this field, thank you for caring for others!

Day 3: I'm thankful and blessed that my husband is such a good father to our children. Just today, Joe did the 6 a.m. diaper change for me so that I could sleep in a little longer and he also managed to get off of work and surprise Kelsea by coming to her gymnastics class tonight. While eating dinner, I was having some "awe" moments and really enjoying the sound Kelsea and Rylan's laughter. They think that their daddy is so funny! He's pretty loved at our house.

Day 4: Let me start by saying how thankful I am for our washing machine and a spray bottle of Oxi-clean! Just in the past few days, Rylan alone has gone through at least 15 outfits and today I washed his car seat two separate times due to "blow-outs". If I did not have my Grandpa John's old washing machine, I think that I would have to start paying rent at the laundry mat because I would live there! Thank You Mom for letting me borrow it and Grandpa John for leaving it behind!

Day 5: Today simply, I am thankful for my family! I am also thankful for the friends in our lives that become family!

Day 6: One of the reasons that I am thankful that we have moved to Antelope from South Lake Tahoe a little over a year ago is that we have been able to attend the River Church once again. I love that we have been able to attend church as a family there! Kelsea LOVES her Sunday school, the other children, and her teachers, especially Debbie! Every few days she asks if we are going to "her school" because she looks forward to going back. I do as well! We are thankful for Jim, our Pastor, and all of the other, kind, caring people there who also love Jesus! I am also thankful for today's guest, Reverend Jackson, who reminded us that when "praises go up, blessings come down".

Day 7: The good news is that I have plenty of things to be thankful for each and every day. I'm thankful for our home and for the people that walk in through our front door often! Thank you Tommy for spending time with Kelsea today while I ran errands with Rylan. Also, happy 93rd birthday to Reverend Billy Graham! I am thankful for this man and his evangelism. While attending the Harvest Crusade at Arco Arena with my dad on October 14th 1994, I publicly accepted Jesus.

Our Daughter's How Old ?!?

So I posted below the photobook that I created for Kelsea's 2nd birthday. I created one for her 1st and she loved it so much I had to make one for her 2nd. In 6 months, can you believe that she will be 3?!? And yes, I'm already planning out her birthday party for September. I'm so happy that she has been a part of our lives for the past 2.5 years. I love being her mom and spending time with her. I'm so impressed by how smart she is. She already knows the alphabet and knows all of the letters sounds and a word or two that start with that letter. Sometimes she speaks words in Spanish, thanks to Dora. We are working on potty training and I think that she will be able to go without a diaper soon. She loves everyone around her and is always happy to see her friends and family. She is such a kind and loving girl! At Sunday school, she has memorized 2 Bible verses so far. She is sometimes a little shy at first, in a new situation. She is a people watcher just like her Daddy. She's our little observer and is always taking in new things and constantly learning. She loves to read books with us and loves to pretend to read to others. Today she told me that she wants to be a teacher! If she does become a teacher, she would be a 5th generation teacher if you count from both sides of the family. I'm so thankful that God has given her to us and that another child to love and cherish is on his way!

The Geddes Family on New Year's Eve! Good bye 2010... Hello 2011!!

Our last 2 full months living in South Lake Tahoe were July and August. We packed them full of parties, fun, and visitors before we move to Antelope on September 3rd-4th. On the 4th of July we had a party at our house and watched fireworks on the South shore sitting on the beach. I'm sure that it will be one of my favorite 4th ever! The party started on the 3rd and didn't really end till the 5th. Kelsea and I loved spending time on the beach and in the water. She's for sure a water baby! We did lots of biking since Joe couldn't hike. He actually shouldn't have biked either, but we all know Joe. Even a broken leg won't keep him down. Another fun adventure we had was when Joe's parents came up and visited we took a trip on the Tahoe Queen. Jan has a picture of Joe, Ben, Marc, and herself from the last time they road the boat as a family. Now we have a picture of Marc, Jan, Joe, Kelsea, and I from our 1st trip together. It was really special and I look forward to scrapbooking some photos from that day. In August, Emma & Dirk visited and one of the days we spent in Virginia City, Nevada. None of us had been there and Dirk wanted to see the desert. That weekend my dad & Mariah came up as well. We swam, had wonderful meals, picnics, and a great bike ride trip up by North Shore. It's always so much fun when family or friends came to visit. Maybe later on in life we will live there again. It's great how one you have lived somewhere even months after you have moved, you still feel like you are coming home! I know that South Lake Tahoe will always be a special place for Joe, Kelsea, and I now more than ever since we had the wonderful experience of living there. I sometimes wonder if Joe had not broken his leg if we would still be living in Tahoe. I know that we would have had to move in September still since the owners of our beautiful home were retiring early, but I'm not sure if we would have moved back just then. I had looked for houses for rent in the area in late August but didn't find anything as perfect as were we lived on Boca Raton Drive. I miss our old home.
Our new home in Antelope is great, it's view out the windows in the house aren't as spectacular. What can I say, it's not Tahoe. I really love that it's a 3 bedroom house with a backyard. We sold our snow blower and got a push mower for our lawn. We've been here for 6 months and I pray that we don't have to move anytime soon. I'm sick of moving. Before Kelsea's 2 birthday she was moving into her 4th home!!! That's too much for me. I guess it goes with today's economy and the struggles of being a teacher right now in California. In September and October we were moving in and right away my dad needed my help back at work since it was his fall season. I moved and within a week I was working 4 or 5 days a week, which was great. Kelsea stayed home with Joe and I was bringing home the bacon. In October we went to several pumpkin patches with friends and family and had tons of fun together on the weekends. Our Halloween costumes this year were: Kelsea as Tinkerbell, Joe as Peter Pan, and I was Wendy. It's funny Kelsea would tell everyone that I was "Coldy" she must have thought character's name was "Windy", which is usually cold.
November and December were really busy! Joe and I had taken over the Family Portrait Fundraiser since Excel didn't have anyone that wanted to staff it an it hasn't made much of a profit in the last year or two. Kelsea would go to Lisa's house to play with her friend Gavyn while Mommy and Daddy worked their tails off. Sometimes Grandma would pick up Kelsea from Lisa's and then we would pick her up there which was nice, because it was always closer. Any printing or bagging of pictures were done in the evening once Excel was closed and went into the wee hours of the night. It was rough! Participation and sales weren't anywhere near what we had hoped them to be. Another sign of the economy. Again we made the most our time together on the weekends and made them fun! We had a great holiday season. The really nice things that makes Antelope better than Tahoe are that:
1. We are closer to friends and family, (Kelsea has really bonded closer to her grandparents, which everyone loves.)
2. There are no bears! We don't have to worry about getting up at 4am to take out the trash and no way do we need to worry about the bears waking up up because they are tearing at the house and trying and succeeding to crawl underneath the house!
3. We don't have to get up in the middle of the night to run the snowblower or shovel a walkway to Joe's truck so that he could dive to work. After living 8 months in the snow, rain doesn't bothe me at all. The rain is great because you don't have to shovel it!
Although, I do miss walking out my front door and playing in the snow whenever we wanted to. Even late at night in the dark. I do miss it, it was a fun experience while it lasted! God wanted us to be living here for a reason and I'm happy to be home, wherever it is that he sends us!

Our Growing Geddes Family is Expecting a...

Ok, I know that this blog is a little out of order, but this is as up to date as it gets! Just in case you didn't know yet, Joe and I got pregnant with this baby right before Kelsea turned 2 years old this past September. I started having some symptoms and was thinking that I might be around the week after her birthday. We confirmed the pregnancy with a home test on October 9th and started sharing the good news with friends and family on 10.10.10! Above is a sample of the card that we told our friends and family with.

This pregnancy has been different from my first in many ways. With Kelsea's, I felt awesome the whole time. I only got sick three times from start to finish. With this little one, I have been known to get sick three times in one day. I started to have nausea when I was 10 weeks pregnant and Iam now 20 weeks and still have the symptom. Hopefully, it passes soon! With Kelsea I had numerous dreams that she was a girl and she was. By mid November, my dreams of this baby were that he was a boy. Well, all except for one dream but I might have been dreaming of Kelsea, who knows. One day I asked Kelsea if she thought that I had a boy or a girl in my tummy and she said, "Momma you have a boy in your tummy and I have a girl". Whenever I shed the question I got the same answer, "a boy in your tummy Mommy". We had our big ultrasound and Kelsea is quite the good guesser. It was so awesome to see him moving, yawning, heart beating, and just rolling around in there. At one point, Kelsea looked up at the ultrasound screen and said, "Look Daddy, the Baby's head is moving". Sure enough, Kels could tell where his head was and that it was turning around. That was towards the end when he started to open and close his little mouth, which looked like a yawn. We had a good time getting a sneek peek today. He showed us his gender 1st thing. The tech said, "Well, there is no mistaking that. He's a boy!" He had his legs wide open and gave us a show. I just started to laugh because I thought back to when we were finding out the sex for Kelsea and she had her legs crossed and was very lady like and wasn't going to show us. I'm so excited to meet him face to face and experience life with him in it. I'm looking forward to becoming a family of four!

Our, Not So Great, June 2010 in Lake Tahoe

I realize that I am behind on my blog, but above was the reason why. June was not the best month for this Geddes Family and this was not the happiest month to write about. On June 13th we drove back from Sacramento /Roseville area home to South Lake Tahoe. We were running a little late for his Sunday evening Rec Soccer team and Kelsea was asleep in the car from the drive up. I suggested that we just miss this one game. Joe had just purchased new cleats and the principal of the school he was teaching at was the captain of the team. Joe didn't want to let him down. She we decided that I was going to stay at the house with Kelsea, unpack the Sequoia, and get started on dinner. Joe should have been home by the time that I was finishing up with dinner. This was the only game that Kelsea and I missed. Joe drove off for the game as I laid Kelsea down on the couch to continue sleeping while I grabbed our few things out of the car. As I brought the last bag in the phone rang. I heard that it was Ryan, Joe's principal, but I could hear what he said. The 3rd time I heard it clearly, "We are pretty sure that Joe's leg is broken. The ambulance is on it's way, meet us at Barton". I couldn't believe what I heard. I felt like I couldn't take a deep enough breath in. As I was putting Kelsea's jammies on, I heard the ambulance, looked through the trees towards 50 and saw it heading towards Joe and the soccer field. I knew that I was going to beat Joe to the hospital and we would have to wait awhile to see him. I grabbed the diaper bag and Kelsea and headed to Barton to wait. While in the ER waiting room, I took my time, checking in and sat and waited for Joe's ambulance to arrive. The gal in the window was very polite to all who were checking in listening to everyone's details and we waited. When Joe arrived the Gal cut off the woman in mid sentence and said, "I'm sorry the person arriving is in critical condition". She shut the sliding glass window and headed out the door. The tears just started to come. This was the most horrible thing that had ever happened to Joe and it was just the beginning of what was to come. After a few minutes I dried my eyes and Kelsea had woken up on my lap. The gal came back to the window and called us back to see him. As we walked into the room to see Joe, I think that I was most shocked to see his pale greenish complexion and his right leg exposed, which didn't look right at all. They had taken an x-ray to confirm the break and we were waiting together to get the results. It was broken! You could tell just by looking at it. What amazed me was that Joe didn't seemed to concerned with the fact that his leg was broken, but worried about how this was going to have an impact on our lives. He was laying there with a broken right leg and worried about Kelsea and I... He was thinking about his job, his students, the end of the school year was just around the corner. I am always amazed by Joe! He was thinking of how his broken leg will have an impact on everyone else instead of himself. The doctor came in with the result of the x-ray. The kick from behind on the ball was gone broke both his tibia and his fibula. We were in the room as more doctors came in to set his leg. Oh my goodness! I could barely watch with Kelsea turned away over my shoulder. We eventually were sent home after we had planned for Joe to have surgery in the morning on the 14th. We arrive the next day to be with Joe and say a prayer before his surgery. His surgery was only suppose to be 3 hours, but due to his dense bones, a titanium rod with a smaller diameter had to be inserted into his knee and one of the lower 4 screws wouldn't go in all of the way so they had to saw off the screw head. After 5 Hours we were told that he was out over surgery and in about an hour he would be awake. Poor Joe. He was a trooper thought, again, my husband amazes me! The next day went we were visiting on the 15th they were teaching Joe to walk on his crutches. The nurses were really impressed with his progress and his strength. They kept Joe one more day because he had developed a fever and that needed to be gone before they could release him. On June 16th in the afternoon we were able to bring him home. Thank you to my brother, Evan, who came right away up to our home in Tahoe to help out in whatever way possible. He and I moved all the furniture around, phew! We moved the bed downstairs and set it up in the downstairs bedroom along with the tv. This way Joe was closest to the bathroom and stay put. The 1st few weeks of his medicine was a lot to deal with. There were 5 different medicines and I had created a chart to follow, because 1 was every 4 hours and I had to wake up to give it to him or he would wake in too much pain. Joe would even fall asleep eating. Needless to say we were all tired and this was very hard to deal with. Also a special thank you to my dad and Joe's parents who also came to help out at separate times with meals, medicine, support, and care for Joe. On the 19th of June, we loaded up in the car back down to the Sacramento area for Bella's birthday party. This was not the best decision on our part because every little bump in the road caused Joe pain. We almost had turned back around to go home. Kelsea did make it to her cousin's 4th birthday party and we had a great time seeing our family. After that we stayed home and didn't put Joe in the car again in June unless it was to a doctors appointment. We actually didn't have a road trip until the middle of July when we went to MacKerricher State Park for our annual family camping trip. June was a tough month for us and even now, as I write this, 6 months later, Joe is still dealing with pain and we have totally been affected by his leg being broken. Joe was not rehired since it was his 1st year teaching in that district. His principal wanted him to return, but I think the district thought that he was too much of a liability. They never gave him a reason why they didn't rehire him, because they couldn't say. I was getting ready to be licensed to do my own in home child care. By the end of July, Joe not only had his leg broken while playing rec soccer, he lost his job along with his insurance, and we received our 30 day notice and lost our home that we were renting. The owners decided to retire years earlier than expected. Currently we are doing really well. Now that I wrote about all the horrible things that happened in our summer starting in June, the rest of the 2010 update that is to come will be all happy news, I promise!

Happy 2nd Birthday Kelsea!!

I usually try to blog things in chronological order, but I'm behind and I am in the mood to be celebrating the birth of my daughter! God blessed us with her 2 years ago and I have cherished the time that we have had with her so far and we are looking forward to the many years ahead!! We love our sweet girl and can't believe how fast time has flown by!!!

May 2010 Highlights

On May 8th, we celebrated Alyssa's 2nd Birthday. It was a Mickey Mouse theme and my sister, Chelsea, even rented a bounce house. So many friends and family members were there to help celebrate, she sure is one lucky little girl. I still can't believe she is two now! It doesn't seem so long ago that I saw her birth! We love you Alyssa and were happy to be apart of your celebration!

The 1st weekend in May, the Zanardelli family came up for a visit and we had a great time. We walked around trails by our house, spent time at our favorite beach, ate at our Lake Tahoe Pizza Co., played Wii, and all of us girls danced into the night to Black Eyed Peas and Michael Jackson!

We also put up Kelsea's swing that weekend because we thought we were going to see the last of the snow. We were wrong about the snow but Kelsea decided that she loves to play in her swing in the snow just as much!

On May 8th, Jan, Brianne, Kaci, Kelsea, and I participated in the Race for the Cure in Sacramento. Jan and I have been running this race together for years. It's become a tradition that we look forward to every May!

Mother's Day was spent in the morning at Grand and Gram's. After we went over to Grandma and Grandpa's to have lunch and free some butterflies. I did get to also spend some time with my mom before Kelsea and I drove back home.

On the 12th in Placerville, Joe finished his 2 year long BTSA training. We are always so proud of his accomplishments!

Kelsea was playing the morning after breakfast and I found her pretending that she was drinking her tea or coffee and reading her book. She must be watching her mommy!

I got to watch all the Geddes Girls while Kelsea's Nini, the other girls mommy, worked at a shaved ice booth helping out her family. Kelsea always loves to spend time with her cousins!

Kelsea Bear on her swing again! I loved this little outfit when it was cold outside!

Kelsea also loves to play in her Kitchen that Grandy got her for Christmas this pat year.

More snow filled days and nights in South Lake Tahoe...

Even if it wasn't snowing it was still cold. It sure didn't feel like spring to me!

on Sundays we have been going to Daddy's soccer games. His team is called Sierra Pops.

The 27th was Joe's back to school night and Kelsea and I showed up. We helped him with his board and room by making signs on our Cricut. Kelsea loved to help her mommy in what ever way possible. On the drive home that evening in the snow we saw a bear crossing the street!

On Friday evenings we also would got to Joe's Softball games.

We got my Mother's day gift a little later in the month and on the 30th we broke it in! I love it!

We hiked with Grand and Gram over by the Vahalla by Camp Richardson.

The cut away is like a big river aquarium! She loved it!

On Memorial Day I tried something new with Kelsea's hair, two french braids!

Joe's Brother's family came up for the weekend and we alway enjoy to have their company! For dinner I made a roasted chicken, baked carrots 2 different ways, mashed potatoes, and gravy.

Goodbye May and Welcome June!

Our Trip to Washington April 2010

Our Wonderful friends, The Webster's, welcomed a new baby girl into the family in March. When Joe was on his spring break, we escaped from the snow to go visit and meet Harlow. Driving through Oregon I stopped at McDonald's and purchased a Sugar free Vanilla iced coffee and Kelsea asked for, "Mo ca-ca Momma". It was cute! We arrived in Bothell, Washington and spent the night.
Kelsea and Kealia wasted no time and played right away the next morning. We went to Everett to try and visit a children's museum, but it was closed on Mondays. Instead we had lunch and drove through...
It was Military Monday, so the Barista was dressed up, barely! I wasn't going to take her photo, sorry guys!!!
I ordered a Banana Coconut Mocha and Kelsea got a hot Chocolate for free, that lucky Girl! Yum!
On Tuesday the 13th Joe, Kelsea, and I traveled to Forks, Washington. We were reminded that we visited on a day that had some sun, which is not often. It is really a very small town!!!
This store was awesome, I wish that I took pictures of it on the inside.
"Bella's Truck" is parked outside of the Chamber of Commerce Building. The had a map of the U.S. and the World hanging and people would put a push pin to show where they were from. We put a little pin to represent South Lake Tahoe.

We ate lunch at a little place that had the "Twilight Menu" which was very good! Afterwards we headed down to see LaPush and First Beach.

On Wednesday the 14th, MaryKay, Kealia, Harlow, Joe, Kelsea, and I had a picnic and played at the park near their house. There was a lake right next to it, it was really fun!!!

We dressed the girls alike and played with bubbles in the backyard before nap time.

That night Kealia and Kelsea wore their matching Monkey jammies!
On the 15th, we headed towards Seattle and went to the Woodland Park Zoo. It sprinkled off and on, but not the whole time, which was nice. I was happy that it wasn't snow!
We saw so many awesome animals! This Penguin Exhibit was new and this is one of my favorite pictures of the girls from that day. I'm always amazed to think that they were born exactly 2 weeks apart!
After the Zoo, we ate lunch at Dick's Burgers. It's one of my favorite places to eat when we visit!
The indoor pools are so much fun! I really had a wonderful time playing in the water with the girls. Once we were done swimming we went out to dinner at Buca di Beppo all together!!!!
The 15th we were leaving for home and we were sad to leave. The visits are never long enough!

On the way home we stopped at the park in Queen Anne. We watched the fireworks frm here on the 4th of July in 2006.
We had to show Kelsea Pike Place Market! This is were they toss the fish. They had a really big and ugly fish hanging from a string and would "jerk" it when people were close to make it seem like the fish was still alive. It was so funny! Kelsea is making sure that it's not moving. Some people, of course, screamed so she was a little worried.

We can't wait to go back and visit our friends that are pretty much apart of our family! We love you guys and missed you once we left your driveway!! Thanks again for letting us visit and meet your sweet, little baby, Harlow Marin!! Love- The Geddes Family xoxoxoxo

Our Egg-siting Easter 2010

Our Easter Sunday was shared over 3 different weekends since it was Kelsea's 1st year where she could participate in an egg hunt and the grandmas didn't want to miss it. On the 10th of April, we visited Grandma and Grandpa for an egg hunt in their new backyard and a wonderful dinner together in their new home in Roseville. Kelsea loved playing in the yard and was saying, "egg.... egg!" the whole time. She was so proud of herself when she found another colored egg to put in her bunny basket.
On Easter Sunday, we were at home in Tahoe, just the 3 of us. This was the 1st year that we didn't go to church together in the morning. I had been ill since the Thursday before and wasn't going to leave the house unless it was an emergency. Yes, one of those kinds of ill! Joe had thrown his back out on Wednesday and it was getting worse each day so we decided to stay home this year. In the morning, Kelsea found her basket and right away she wanted to play with her food. She has toy kitchen and plays with it almost everyday. She likes to cook like mama! She could care less about the hair bows and rubber bands but I was happy to see them!
Since it was snowing outside and Joe and I were not doing well, we decided to keep her egg hunts indoors and she loved it! She had so much fun we played for hours throughout the day.
She was so happy to find an egg she would shout, "egg!" or was it more of a squeal?!? She had so much fun!
She even found an egg in the rocking chair! Kelsea got a Story of Easter, which was a children's book from Grandma's book order, which came just in time. As I read the story, she enjoyed listening and pointing at the illustrations. I think that it is so great kids can get a book about Jesus' love for everyone of us and how he rose again through a public school book order. Great job Scholastic!
After playing with her toy food and the many egg hunts we all sat together and watched "The Princess and the Frog", which we all loved! It's very good if you have not seen it. That Easter bunny has some good taste!
In the late afternoon, Joe couldn't move anymore and was in intense pain. He wanted me to take him to the emergency room to off we went to add to our exciting Easter Sunday. Kelsea and I watched "Little People Big World" in the waiting room and watched the snow fall out the windows in between her breaks walking along the row of empty chairs that wrapped around the room. Once Daddy was released and medicated we headed back home so I could make our Easter dinner.
Since the Grill Master was out of commission for the rest of the night I got to do the honors! Which also meant shoveling the snow to get to the bbq. We actually had a great Easter considering the circumstances. I was just glad that we were together!
The Saturday before I pulled Kelsea in the sled for about 15 minutes, I wasn't feeling up t any more. I was going to do an egg hunt in the snow but was still to sick and Joe took more than 5 minutes just to get up off the couch because of his poor, strained back.
On Sunday, March 28th, we did an Eater Egg Hunt in Elverta at Grandy and Pops' front yard. Kelsea and Alyssa were very exciting about finding the colorful eggs in the yard. They were very good at it and of course, Alex was a pro. Mom and I had fun dressing the girls for the event and doing their hair. We tried to have them match as much as possible. All in all, I think was more fun and enjoyable sharing Easter and God's love over a few weeks with as much family as possible, compared to just one day!

Alex's T-ball Parade and Time at the Lake

March 27th, my nephew, Alex had his t-ball parade in Rio Linda. All 3 sets of his grandparents were there to watch. Kelsea and Alyssa had a lot of fun watching all of the action.
Alex is pictured closest to us with his hat pressing down his ears. His daddy, Brett, is in the beanie. The float tied for first place and they all recieved metals. My sister, Chelsea, helped decorate the float and made bobble heads of all the players on the side of the float. She is very clever and creative!
The girls were enjoying dried mangos while watching all the activity. It's fun that Alex gets to be in the same parade as I was years ago for Rio Linda Bobby Sox and Elverta and Alpha School's Marching Band.
Here is Kelsea on St. Patrick's Day wearing her green. I took her to jamba juice in the morning for a special treat and then headed to one of our favorite beaches that has a play toy. She loves the staris, slide, and touching the "wa-wa".
This was on the 20th of March, we took turns pulling Kelsea around in her toddler sled. In the morning as we were driving over to the lake, I confronted Joe because I thought he was "playing hookie". He kindly reminded me that it was a Saturday morning...
On the 11th, instead of walking the hills around our house we waited fro Joe to get home and we went to the lake by the South Lake Tahoe recreation area. Kelsea really enjoyed seeing the duck when we were down by the water and when we were walking in the path she loved to push the stroller.

Part 2 of our LA trip: The drive back home March 6th &7th

We were driving from the CAPHRED conference to the Infineon Raceway to see my brothers, Evan and Peter, race in the Tour de LeMons.
Kelsea saw this Huskey and had to pet it, she didn't want to leave her but it was time to head down to watch the race.

Kelsea loves to spend time with her cousins, even if it's watching junky cars race. It was really fun!
She had a great time and so did we. The car that Evan was suppose to race broke, so we didn't get to see him drive, but I'm pretty sure that he raced the nest day.
On the 7th, before we drove home to South Lake Tahoe we watched Blake's indoor soccer game and then had lunched and did some shopping with Grandy, Pops, and Alex. We got the kids ice cream before we left for home!

Our little Family trip to LA March 3rd-6th

We left our snowy home in South Lake Tahoe and headed south for Joe's annual P.E. conference, CAPHRED, which was in the LA area this year. We left after Joe got home from work and we drove all night.
Kelsea is great at sleeping in the car so it was wonderful! she only woke up 2x to nurse, which usually was when we were going to stop for gas. Joe and I took turns driving and sleeping.
At the conference there are tons of activities that you can participate in. I remember the year that I was pregnant I did belly dancing, which was fun! Kelsea liked the rock climbing this year!
Daddy would got to CAPHRED and we would go do something fun for the day and then meet back up together after he was done. On the 5th, I took Kelsea to the LA Zoo!
We saw soooo many animals and took tons of photos, like always, but I am only posting a few...
This tiger's look was so intense!
I think she is saying "rroaaar" here. Kelsea is getting really good at making animal noises!
We got a real treat seeing a hippo! He was even playing with his ball.
The giraffes were so neat to look at. Their enclosure was lower so it was different to be able to look down on them from certain parts of it. There was a mamma with 2 babies. Kelsea loves to point out the babies!
This was a good shot of the lion, notice no fence. They have a dry moat, that they don't jump in or over to get anyone, which is good news!!!
She had so much fun seeing all the different animals! We saw alligators and then a komodo dragon and she said, "baby". It was funny she thought it was the alligator's baby. She is pretty smart!
We watched the Koalas for a long time. They had two new mammas with their babies, super cute!
Here is this mamma with her baby! We had a fun time and I'm so thankful and happy that I get so many opportunities to spend time with my daughter and experience fun, new things with her! God is good!

Living in South Lake Tahoe in March is Snow much Fun!

It's not very spring like with all of the snow, but we sure have had a lot of fun with family visiting!
Joe was tossing Alex up in the air and this is how he landed in the powder.
Kelsea is in the red sled and Alex and Alyssa are on the purple sled... bit not for long. This was Alyssa's 1st time in the snow and a 1st for Alex and Alyssa visiting!
I'd say that they both had a good time at Auntie Kay and Uncle Joe's house! Grandy took this picture from the street.
Here is some of the tossing action! We were are laughing so hard! It's was so funny to see Alex fly through the air and sink into the fresh snow!
The girls were done at this point so we headed back in after this.

The spa is really nice in the snow, just not getting out... Kelsea loves playing in the water!

AT&T is a horrible company! I will never sign up for their services ever again! This includes phone, internet, and or tv. We moved in October they are still trying to bill me $168 for service till January 18th. They say that they have no record of my calls and I have been trying to resolve this since the end of November...! I’ve spoken with several different people today and been on the phone for over 2 hours so far! Do yourself a favor and avoid this company like the plague!!!!!!

Kelsea always loves to be a big helper! Even if it is to help shovel the snow!

Looking at Kelsea you wouldn't be able to tell that anything is wrong with her. She is a happy, beautiful, little girl who loves animals, music, and dancing! She is now trying to sing her ABC’s and Happy Birthday, which is always to Daddy! She has started talking too and it's cute! She was diagnosed with a Right Ureteropelvic Junction Obstruction. Basically her right kidney didn't form correctly in the womb and the muscle that pushes the urine down to the bladder isn't functioning at 100%. That's what caused her UTI in last September and gave her the high fever which caused me to take her to the E.R. on the 8th. October 19th Kelsea had an ultrasound and we found out that there was a problem, her right kidney was enlarged. January 29th she had a Nuclear UCG Test performed and we found out that she thankfully did not have bladder reflux. That tends to be genetic so if later we were to have another daughter she would need to be screened because she could have the same issue. I was so happy that it wasn’t bladder reflux also because I thought that meant she was fine and we didn't to worry anymore. On the 5th of February her Urologist gave me the diagnosis of the Ureteropelvic Junction Obstruction. The game plan for Kelsea is to have her on Amoxicillin at least until October 2010, when they will perform another ultrasound test. If there is improvement she can go off the antibiotics and then do another test the year after that. The antibiotics are a preventative. If she continues to have UTI’s at her young age her right kidney would scar so much that it wouldn’t grow normally. Her Doctor seems to think that this will be something we will be doing for years until she grows out of the problem or they determine that they need to do surgery to correct the issue. We, of course, are praying that she gets better faster than expected and will grow out of the problem. At first giving her medicine at night was a fight, but we learned a trick. We have her look in the mirror while she takes her medicine and tell her, “Watch Kelsea take her medicine! Oh look! What a big girl!” Joe and I then both clap and praise her once she is finished. The other night she even signed and said, “more!” She is so sweet! We hope that she continues to grow correctly and stay healthy and happy!

We had a wonderful few days of Christmas along with our 1st White Christmas on the 26th at our home in South Lake Tahoe. On the 28th we took a new family picture since Ben was home for 2 weeks. I will catch up with all of our holiday news after to the 2nd. We are headed back down to Sacramento for some birthday celebrations, my mom and Bayleigh's. Also some friends and family time. We h0pe that everyone had a Merry Christmas and here is to a good start on 2010, oh my!

As of November 2nd, Kelsea and I officially moved up to our new home in South Lake Tahoe. Joe had been up there since the middle of October teaching. On the 7th we took a break from unpacking on the inside of the house and spend some time working, exploring, and playing the yard. Joe and I were trimming trees and Kelsea pointed to everything! She loved being outside!
She loves climbing on the stairs! She got a lot of experience at Grand and Gram's before we moved up here.
For lunch, Kels was having some of her favorites: noodles and broccoli! Here she is signing "more".
On November 5th Kelsea woke up with bed head at our new home! I'm so excited that her hair is growing!
On Halloween, Grand and Gram left to go to SF to see Wicked. We were going to see them once they got home in the evening...
Aintie C way s helpful and carved Kelsea's pumpkin or her this year!
Alyssa and Alex were super cute and had fun playing with Kelsea after they went trick or treating. I didn't take Kels around this year because I thought that she might get too scared. Towards the end of the night we found out that she doesn't mind scary masks. She is just afraid of the Pirate that isn't real at Michael's...
We passed out candy at Grand and Gram's until they got back. Kelsea picked out a milky way for a bite of her first candy bar. She likes the same kind as her Uncle Ben. :)

Kelsea was the White Rabbit and her Daddy was the Mad Hatter. I was Alice...
On the 30th we went to Boo at the Zoo with Mary and Liam. Kelsea and I were pirates. This costume was a gift from Auntie Lisa.
Liam was a monkey and Mary was a Banana! They were Super cute together!

on the 21st we went to Bishop's Pumpkin Patch with the Pence and Gregory Family. Kelsea loves her daddy and was missing him. She was so excited when he met us at my dad's house before we left, I was too!
Kelsea and Gavyn were so cute! We all rode the train together.
On the 19th of October Grandy came to pick up Kelsea and take her to her house for an hour or 2 while we finished packing up the apt. Kelsea was so excited she was a big girl and very good! This was her first time being watched by someone else besides Autumn, when I was taking a class last semester at CSUS.
On October 16th, both Lisa's and Tommy's birthdays, I took Kelsea and Liam to the zoo. Kelsea wore a onsie from Grandma that sid, "Daddy's Little Pumpkin" and I made her wear a tutu that I made but, she didn't care. Sew had fun walking and pushing the stroller.
We signed our lease on October 11th for our new home in South Lake Tahoe. It's a 2 story, 2 bedroom with a loft and we love it. Joe moved up right away to start his new teaching job. Kelsea and I stayed at my Dad's till we moved up November 2nd. I finished the month watching our little buddy, Liam.

What a happy Grandpa, with his 5 grandkids! We celebrated his 60th birthday on the 4th of October, 2 days before his real birthday!

October 4th we went to Apple Hill. The apple fritters were so good!
On September 24th, we went to the Sacramento Zoo with Bella's preschool. We had a god time and Kelsea even pushed Bella in the stroller foa a moment, it was cute. Afterward, across the street at Fairy Tale Town we saw Grandma, who was there with her class!
This was in September at Ben and Brittiny's, we had a Spaghetti dinner. Kelsea took her first steps ath their house. She was watching her cousins walk and she just decided that she wasgoing to have to start if she was going to keep up with them!
Also Kelsea's Uncle Russ and Auntie Cookie moved to Alaska and we miss them too! We are both now living in the snow for the first time.
When we were still living in Sacramento before we moved up to South Lake Tahoe, we got to see Nini and her cousins alot. We sure do miss them now!
Well, Uncle Ben left in August for the National Guard for bootcamp then his AIT training and we all miss him a ton. He's coming home from AIT training for Christmas and we are all looking forward to spending some time with him before he goes back to finish his training.
Kelsea'a Birthday came and went so fast, I still can't believe my little girl is now almost 15 months! Where does the time go. We had a great party for her at William Land Park and I"m so thankful for every person that showed up. I made a little book for her at it is posted below if you want to see more pictures.

I can't believe that my baby is turning one this month. I'm really amazed at how quickly the year has gone by. I love how Kelsea is waving to everyone these days; even the cats that have decided to move in on our porch. Well... I guess it's my fault I have been feeding them. She also loves to be in her stroller and the beco carrier. She is really close to walking. The most she has taken is 5 steps in a row. She also is pointing out every light that she sees. She also says "Dad" and "Momma" really well. Most of all things, Kelsea loves her family, friends, and especially her cousins!!!

Wild Things at the Zoo (well... maybe not so wild!)

I have been enjoying taking Kelsea, other kids (nieces & nephews), and friends to the Sacramento Zoo lately. It's a great place to walk around and spend time with the kids. Just this morning I took Kelsea and we sat and ate yogurt for breakfast on a bench by the huge Koi fish near the Red Pandas, which by the way, are Alex's favorite animals there. Kelsea and Alyssa in May.

This June 21st was a big day for our family. Not only was it Father's Day, it was Joe's 1st Father's day. Kelsea turned 9 months old. Joe and I celebrated 10 years together, while the day before was the wedding anniversaries of Marc & Jan, 31 years, and Ben & Brittiny, 6 years. I wanted to do family portraits for a gift to all of the dads: Marc, Ben, and Joe!
Marc and Jan, Thanks for getting married 31 years ago and having two wonderful, handsome sons, who later married and made more beautiful children. Happy Anniversaries to everyone and Happy Father's Day to the dads, especially my husband, Joe! I love you and am so proud of you! You are a wonderful daddy to Kelsea! xoxoxox

A Little Review for the Family Post

As of January 2009, Joe, Kelsea, and I have been going to a new church called, The River Church. I really like it so far and Kelsea sits on my lap during the service. After the singing, she is usually ready to nurse and then fall asleep. They have a nursery to leave her but I’m not ready yet. I was thinking about volunteering in the nursery for the second service and then I can watch other people’s babies!

The only time that she is not by my side is on Tuesdays and Thursdays when I leave her at Tyson and Autumn’s house for 2 hrs while I attend a class at CSUS. Which I am proud to say is over on the 14^th! Autumn and I are still going to meet up on Tuesday and Thursday mornings to hang out. We are planning on working on some family history projects together. Last week, while I was writing lesson plans, Joe took her to her cousin, Brooklyn’s, t-ball game.

Another fun thing that Kelsea and I do together on a regular basis now is walk. We walk mostly with Cara and Grandy (my mom). Sometimes we walk with Lisa, Gavyn, Grandma (Joe’s mom), and by ourselves. We just got a membership to the Sacramento Zoo so we can walk there. Kelsea is always so interested in the world around her and she likes to study things in it, especially faces. She laughed really hard at the Gibbons last week swinging from branch to branch.

Joe is teaching P.E. at Madison Elementary. He is also the volunteer Head Coach of their Track & Field Team. Hey had their 1^st meet May 9^th at Rio Linda High School. Joe is very dedicated to the students and even made them all shirts so that they would look like a team!

That same day Kelsea, Grandma Jan, Lisa, Gavyn, and I participated in the Race for the Cure held at Cal Expo. Jan and I have participated in it for the past few years, but I enjoyed decorating the jogging stroller this year. I made a sign that said, “Let’s find a cure before she grows ‘em”, which had a number of people pointing, smiling, and taking pictures of it.

Kelsea is growing so fast, this month in the 21^st she will be 8 months old. She is currently weighing in at 22lbs and 28” tall. She also has been saying “Dada” since she was 6 months old. No “Mama” yet but, on Mother’s Day evening she was on the floor with her daddy and Uncle Ben and she crawled for the 1^st time. Not for very long, but she was headed for a CF card for the camera, which made me laugh after the fact so see that she already has an interest in photography!

Recently, April 26th, the same day Katherine Allison Brown was born in FL, we were in Woodland attending the Scottish games. Chelsea, Evan, Alex, Alyssa, Papa, Joe, Kelsea, and I all attended. Joe, Kelsea, and Evan all wore their new kilts. Grand (my dad) and Gram (Mariah) would be so sad to hear that they missed out on hearing the Golden Bough, but Dad had a soccer tournament.

We are really looking forward to this summer and spending time with family. In July, we are looking forward to our 5 year wedding anniversary, Family camping trip at MacKerricher State Park, and attending Emma and Dirk’s Wedding in Monterey. We love you and miss you all!

What a thankful Thanksgiving it was! Melisa gave birth to son, Aiden, October 5th 2008. Exactly 2 weeks prior, Kalynn (ME), gave birth to daughter, Kelsea, on September 21st. Two months to the day earlier, Autumn, gave birth to son, Soren, July 21st. And 2 months and 2 weeks before that, Chelsea, gave birth to her daughter, Alyssa, May 7th. These lovely babies are grandchildren of two wonderful Timperley women: Sandy, my mom, and Karla, my aunt!

Kelsea had two bottom teeth now. Her first came in March 8th and 2nd came in the 18th while we were in San Diego for my cousin's wedding. On her 1/2 birthday she said, "Dada" her first word and ate banana for the first time. She made a funny face. She is still 20lbs and is 27" tall. She rolls all around, pulls herself up with a little help, and is almost ready to crawl. She almost put herself up on her hands and knees this evening. She is really close!
My little model bunnies are left to right: Sophia- 8 months, Soren- 9 months, Kelsea- 7 months, Gavyn- 7 months, and Alyssa- 11 months. Thanks so much to everyone who helped me create my little work of art. I really enjoyed taking pictures in the studio again. I can honestly say I miss working, but I'm not ready to go back yet. I'm trying to soak up every minute of my little girl's first year. It is flying by way too fast. She will be 7 months old on the 21st and I'm a little sad because now she is closer to 1st birthday!

Kelsea is now officially 5 months now and loves to eat her rice cereal. Today was the 4th of Joe giving her food. It's really fun for me to see someone else feeding her besides me. I'm excited that she's growing up so strong and healthy, but I am very sad at how quickly it is speeding by. "You can't stop this train"! I have taken tons of photos in hopes to save every moment but the truth is you can't stop it or slow it down, you can't change how quickly that time flys by and that's hard for me to take that all in. I just try and enjoy each place I'm in and every moment while we are in it. I've decided that I just need another baby to experience it again because I have enjoyed it all so much and I know that I will continue to do so!
I love that little face. She was eating the table in between spoonfuls if it wasn't coming fast enough. She has to keep busy. She is pretty good at that with all of the new things she is learning. She is really great at sitting up now. At the last doctor'a apt. she sat up on her own and Dr. Koch was really impress with that. She wasn't as strong as she is now. A month makes a big difference at this stage. Another new thing that Kelsea is doing is kicking her feet when she is excited (more so her left). She does that while she eats also and kicks Joe's legs!
Kelsea had her 1st soild food Feb. 17th Daddy fed her and Grandma held her. It was rice cereal mixed with breastmilk. I know, I know, yum! I'm sure everyone wants a taste of that. Well at least Kelsea sure did. She loved it and couldn't get enough and was grabbing at Joe's hands if he wasn't getting the spoon fast enough to her mouth. After the ate the left over breast milk that wasn't mixed with cereal went in a bottle and Grandma gave her the bottle and she dramk it all. The only other time so far that she really took her bottle and finished it was Feb. 12 and Lisa gave it to her.
This year for Valentine's we spent it with some good friends that had their baby girl, Kealia, 2 weeks after Kelsea was born, that currently live in Washington so it was great to spend time with the now three of them. I had never been to Napa valley so when they suggested the idea I was excited to see a new place. I was so excited when Joe found this castle. I told Kelsea that daddy made her an official princess for Valentie's by taking her to a castle. Which is great for me because if she is the princess, that makes me Queen! We had a really fun time exploring in and out of the castle. It even had a moat with really loud, obnoxious frogs.
On my birthday, February 3rd, Kelsea did another 1st. She rolled over from her tummy to her back.
On my 27th birthday most of my family and friends got together to celebrate at Johnny Carino's for dinner. I'm holding Lisa's little boy, Gavyn, which is Kelsea's first friend. (Joe says that we can't say boyfriend... so sometimes we say cousins eventhough we are always asked if they are twins.) Gavyn is 8 days younger than Kelsea, whi is being held by her Auntie C.
This photo is also from my birthday, it's my sister's two kids, Alyssa and Alex with Kelsea in the middle. Alex is so gentle with Kelsea and always gives her lots of love, hugs, and kisses. He is a very sweet boy, a great big brother and cousin... and I like him as a nephew too!!!!
Kelsea loves her tummy time, and here her Daddy has just arrived home and she seems to always save the best smiles for when he gets home from work.

This was January 27th, later in the evening I got to hang out with just the 4 geddes girls! That was fun for me, I especially ejoyed french braiding the hair of the only 2 who have hair long enough to. Bayleigh and Kelsea will be a few years away I'm afraid:.
Joe turned the dirty thirty on the 24th on January, we had a big celebreation on the night of there were over 20 people that showed up to celebrate joe's milestone. I remember years ago Joe had said to me that he wanted to have his 1st child before he turned thirty and Kelsea came 18 weeks before.
This picture of Joe with his parents is also from Joe's 30th birthday dinner at Claim Jumper's in Roseville. Kelsea's shirt says, "I Love Daddy", pefect for the special occasion.
This day was the first day of CSUS this semester and the 1st time I left Kelsea with anyone for more than 10 minutes, she was 18 weeks old. My cousin, Autumn, watched her along with her two children, Avalon and Soren.
She rolled over from her back to her tummy, going toward her left on my sister's birthday, January 17th, while I was at scrappy hour. She rolled toward her Nini for the first time there on the scrapbook table at Green Tangerines.

Yesterday, I photographed Kelsea and her monkey and I have decided that from now on her daddy has to be there becasue her is the one that gets the big smiles. (Joe was there at 4 month shot and just me for the 5). She is sitting up so well now I am amazed.

Oh my! These past 3 months have flown by!

Kelsea started grabbing for specific things to play with (not just my hair) or should I say, put in her mouth on December 19^th. So Christmas was perfect timing because she would grab and tear the paper and play with the gift. She really likes a glowworm that she received on Christmas day. She loves to “talk” to it before she puts it in her mouth. She “talks” and giggles all the time now! Yesterday I managed to take a short nap and woke up to the most wonderful sound, Kelsea’s full-bodied giggles at her daddy!

She is a very happy baby girl and loves to be in her swing, bouncer, on her activity mat, or in anyone’s arm who will hold her! This Sunday, January 11^th she will be exactly 16 weeks old, since she was born Sunday, September 21^st. I recently found out that her birthday is also the International Day of Peace. What a good day for a birthday every year.

Speaking of birthday, her cousin, Bayleigh, will be turning 1 on the 11^th and we are planning a trip to the Sacramento Zoo, which I think that Kelsea will really enjoy. She loves to look at our fish tanks and any other animals she sees. Also, on the 24^th of this month Joe will be celebrating his 30^th birthday! Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband and Kelsea’s awesome daddy!

On the 21^st of December, I am pleased to say that all 5 of my dad and Mariah’s grandbabies were Christened and Dedicated to Jesus. The best part is that Emma performed the dedications for her nephew, Alex and her 4 nieces, which include Makena, Makayla, Alyssa, and Kelsea. It was defiantly one of the highlights of our holiday season!

I’m really enjoying being a mommy and am trying to enjoy and not to mention document every moment. She is growing so quickly I feel a little sad that it is going by so fast. She enjoys nursing and I cherish that time we have together. It’s when I get to hog her for myself and when she is hungry it’s a nice guarantee that I get her back. We are exclusively breastfeeding and I am so thankful that it has been so easy for us.

Most of my days are spent at home or out and about with one of my girlfriends that I met 12 years ago in high school, Lisa, who has a baby boy, Gavyn, who is 8 days younger than Kelsea. We do lots of walking; sometimes it may be at the mall. We also try to scrapbook together, but mostly we have fun with the babies and enjoy helping each other out and sharing our experiences with one another. Joe is home a great deal since he is currently taking sub positions at the local school district. That has been so nice because Joe doesn’t miss out on much and is able to spend a lot of time with Kelsea and I!

This photo of Joe and I is the last photo taken where it is just the two of us. We were just heading into Sutter Roseville Hospital for the 2nd time on September 20th. Little did I know, I was going to be sent home again. I was only a 2 still, even after 18 hours of labor. By the time Kelsea was born it ended up being 32 hours of labor once I started timing my contractions that were at least 30 seconds long. This was 12:20 am on the 20th. I started to feel contractions on the 19th around 8:00p.m. So if you count that part as labor as well, even though I was still in denial and didn't say a word to Joe yet, that could be counted at 36 hours of labor. I wasn't admitted till around 2:00 a.m. on the 21st of September.

Kelsea was born at 7:24 a.m. her weight was 7lbs 10 oz and her length was 19.5 inches. Right after she was born I held her skin to skin. It is the most amazing feeling in the world to hold your newborn baby in your arms for the 1st time. I thank God for her! My life has been changed for the better and I couldn't be happier... well maybe once we have more I could me happier because I would have more to be happy about. We had a great stay in the hospital we had a wonderful experience and I don't think that I could say enough kind words about the staff there. I am so glad that we had so many visitors. While I delivered her, she of course had her daddy there, but also her Grandma Jan, and her Auntie C. All of her grandparents visited, 2 uncles, Great Grandfather, and many friends! Thank you to everyone who visited the three of us. Everyone was excited to meet our sweet baby girl. We were in the hospital for two days and came home on the 23rd.
